Catharina has a professional background as a Marine Archaeologist. She has also worked as a museum Curator and journalist at one of Sweden’s most important newspapers, Svenska Dagbladet. Her academic background combined with diligent research brings authentic detail to everything she writes. Her individual writing style, featuring depth of insight, and sense of surprise and humour, gives her books a special appeal. So much so that in 1999 she won the prestigious Widding Prize as the best writer of popular history and historical novels. She had her brake through with the feelgood novel The Little old lady who broke all the rules in 2012. It has since then been on the top lists in Sweden, France, England, Canada, Germany, Italy, Norway, Czech, Republic, Korea and Island. In 2015 she was awarded Premio Roma, an Italian litterature prize.
